Coagulation is an intermediary step, but it is essential to the physico-chemical treatment process of water and wastewater. This is the first step in the elimination of colloidal particles and its main function is to destabilize the particles. This destabilization is essentially the neutralization of the electrical charge present on the surface of the particle thus facilitating the agglomeration of the colloids.

Its main application is on municipal wastewater treatment plants where can replace all common coagulants with many side positive effects. Integrated metal oxide nanoparticles are bound to special organic charge carriers and trigger the required chemical reactions in the sewage plant at incredible speed.

Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) is a dense, colorless, strongly odorous toxic gas that corrodes infrastructures and impairs the performance of wastewater treatment operations. Hydrogen Sulfide is naturally converted to sulfuric acid which is corrosive towards steel and concrete. Control of H2S will result in increased life and lower maintenance cost for facilities and piping. In addition, worker safety, is of concern as Hydrogen Sulfide is extremely toxic at levels above 500 ppm, which can be reached in confined spaces.

The result is a combination system with dual effective properties. On the one hand it prevents the emergence of anaerobic conditions; This prevents the formation of hydrogen sulfide and other odorous, volatile and not uncommonly highly toxic substances that can form only with the exclusion of oxygen.

This activity gives these bacteria a dual ecological role - recycling nitrogen and fixing carbon into organic compounds. Carbon fixation by this method is not very efficient, because the fixation of one mole of carbon requires the oxidation of 35 moles of ammonia to nitrite and of 100 moles of nitrite to nitrate.
